Journey to Freedom
Grace Jo's journey to freedom began in North Korea, where she experienced the hardships of poverty and oppression under the regime. Fleeing with her family to China, they faced new challenges living in hiding as North Korean refugees, fearing deportation back to their homeland. With the aid of a Christian missionary organization, Grace and her family eventually found sanctuary in the United States, where they were granted refugee. Inspired by her own struggles and determined to advocate for others, Grace Jo has become a prominent human rights activist. She speaks passionately about the plight of North Korean refugees, raises awareness about human rights abuses in her homeland, and advocates for policies that support refugees globally. Meet Founder, Grace Jo
Grace Jo's story is one of resilience and hope. Born in North Korea, Grace experienced extreme poverty, starvation, and the constant threat of persecution. After the loss of several family members and surviving on minimal food, her family made the daring escape to China, where they faced further challenges, including her mother's arrest. With the help of relatives and brokers, they finally reached the United States, where Grace began to rebuild her life.
Motivated by her harrowing experiences, Grace is dedicated to advocating for human rights and helping other North Korean defectors. She founded the Grace Jo Foundation to support those escaping oppressive regimes and to raise awareness about the plight of North Koreans. Her personal journey fuels her passion for creating a world where everyone can live in freedom and dignity. Grace's unwavering commitment to making a difference inspires her work every day.
